In a global first, Ola brings ‘Auto-Connect Wi-Fi’ experience to millions on the go

Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, today announced the launch of Ola Wi-Fi, a proprietary experience from the company’s innovation labs, that allows users to auto connect to Wi-Fi in an Ola cab without having to enter credentials every single time. Users with a one-time authentication on their phones, can use Ola Wi-Fi on their devices without having to key in login credentials and passwords in subsequent rides, staying connected with Ola’s secure network whenever they take a ride. Auto-Connect Wi-Fi is currently available for free on Ola Prime and will soon be available across all categories including Micro, Mini and Auto-rickshaws available on the Ola app.

PM to book first e-rickshaw through Ola for ‘Stand Up India’ event

Cab aggregator Ola has now ventured to improve last mile connectivity, with the launch of e-rickshaws on its mobile app. The first of the e-rickshaws will be booked on the Ola app by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive at Noida for the launch of ‘Stand up India’ initiative at 4pm on Tuesday.
A total of 5100 e-rickshaws are slated to be distributed to promote the migration of pedal rickshaw operators to the new e-rickshaws. Out of 5100, Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida will receive 1000 each while neighbouring Ghaziabad will get 2000 e-rickshaws at the event.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will book the first e-rickshaw through the Ola app at the event and will pay online. He will also conduct a ‘Chai pe charcha’ at the event. He will discuss issues with 27 persons including e-rickshaw beneficiaries, labourers and e-rickshaw charging centre employees at the venue,” said Vijay Pandey, managing director of Bhartiya Micro Credit (BMC), the company which is facilitating the e-rickshaw distribution event.
The BMC has also planned to open e-rickshaw charging centres across NCR to enable the e-rickshaw operators charge their rickshaws while on the move.
An Ola spokesperson said that the vehicles will be deployed across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad under a tie up with BMC.

This government is weird. On one side they keep on blocking Ola/Uber services because of vintage transport policies which have not been updated for modern times. And on the other hand they do this.

Tried it today. Reminds me of Uber in the early days. All things equal, it's about 40% costlier than Black. Service was good both times. Tried Ola after a long time. The app is much improved (in imitating Uber's form and function).

Tried Ola Prime too, same cost/cars as X, and free WiFi by Vodafone too. Not bad at all.

Ola ETA's are also much improved in Mumbai. Never thought I'll say this but the experience is much approved and worthy competition to Uber.

I thought UberBlack launched at Rs. 25 per KM? My sole ride was in a BMW where I paid around Rs. 800 for a ride from Connaught Place to my house at around 2am!

The taxi aggregators new feature Ola Lux will offer high end luxury sedans and SUVs like Jaguar, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Toyota Camry and Fortuner amongst others. The service will be available on the Ola app at a minimum fare of Rs. 200 and just Rs. 19/km.

A ride time charge of Rs. two per minute is also applicable. The launch of Ola Lux in Delhi NCR comes close on the heels of its launch in Mumbai.

Ah you mean the current prices of UberBLACK? Right. I might end up using it some day if my dad and mom are looking for a ride to Delhi.
