Hi I am using BNSL fiber internet with Onu/Modem from bsnl and Asus rt-ax3000 router. Recently I called the technician to enable bridge mode so that I can have a more stable connection and reduced double nat.

Everything was working but in a few hours, I noticed that both ethernet and Wi-Fi disconnect after few hours and internet is gone for 3-4 mins. This is very annoying.

Steps I’ve taken:

  • Disable “Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power” in lan management settings.
  • Disabled Energy efficient ethernet/Green ethernet
  • Changing PPPOE values like internet detection to: Disable, DNS Probe etc
Some log files:

  • One MAC tries to enable connection constantly. I’ve blocked it in MAC filter but its not helping. LOG: Feb 24 13:58:29 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(464): eth5: Deauth_ind E0:37:BF:7A:B0:19, status: 0, reason: Class 3 frame received from nonassociated station (7)
  • logs show router internal flash (NAND/UBI) mounting repeatedly
  • WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE] auto_firmware_check
Now how do I circle to faulty issue? BSNL PPPoE session timeout, ONT (Fiber Modem) instability or asus firmware instability?

When the technician was setting up bridge mode, He selected Binding options: Both lan 1 and lan 2. MTU/MRU: 1492

The steps you have taken are unnecessary. A quick google search of keywords from log shows it might be one of your devices connected via Wifi. Try updating firmware of the router if there is any available and check.

Also, MTU should be left at 1500 for bridge on the ONT.
