One Broadband Mumbai : 200Mbps Review

Going to keep this very short.
I recently moved to One Broadband after a troublesome affair with Airtel and 10 other ISP over the span of last 2 years.
The debacle started after a call a from a known colleague that he is partnering with them, and it is promising.

This connection is provided by him (known as, Speed Infosis) who take care or the end user to OLT fiber, while everything else is maintained by ONEB. Kind of, like what Excitel does.

I paid INR 2700 for 200Mbps @90days(this was the highest plan they offered here) free installation and INR 500 refundable for the dumb Syrotech ONU (SY-GPON-1000R-DONT). It's 950 INR for 1 month, 4750 if you go for 6 months, saving over 600 INR.
The connection itself is GPON and the input power is -24dBm (stable) with the core being shared with 5 other parties.

My Connection IPV4 is in the 203.194.99.0/24 (CGNAT) range, and they are providing IPV6 which is a 2404:ba00:XXXX::/64.
Both are working with no issues, with most games via IPV4 show NAT as moderate or open. (tried, War zone, Wild lands and GTA5)

Installation Experience:
Since this bit is going to vary, I am going to summarize.
I accepted the call on 12th June for installation the next day. They arrived at 6PM, installation completed within 30 minutes.
ONU activation took 2 hours, as it can only be done by NOC, and they had left for the day. The guy activated from his home.
Cabling work and everything else was done well.

Sometimes, it uses its Airtel backbone if there are no better options. I believe this option is kept for Enterprise.

I cannot post, fast.com results as my Netflix is being routed via VPN.

Downloading via Single-Thread Browser:

Not doing torrents nor any probe tests.
Website blocking should be the general, and since NAT type is moderate, torrent will work decent.

No blocking or tampering of FTP or any other kind, nor the ports are being aggressively reset. (I am looking at you Jio)

Steam-Downloads:
Getting full speeds, download uses their internal caching servers. (Traceroute above)

Verdict:
Recommended. Prices are up to the mark for the service provided.
Reliability is something, that would be known with the coming days, but with what I am seeing the NOC is knowledgeable, and the backbone is proven to done by someone who knows their stuff.
Only con, would be the lack of OTT, but I don't use/care for things like that.

Let me know what else, you'd like to know.

@rajat_ Here is the result, not sure about the browsing result. Because I did not observe any slowness.

@Irrepressible If you see logs… You will see "Received disconnect from Peer"

This was confirmed from One Broadband that they do this. On the same setup, I have had Airtel PPPoE remain up for straight 90days+.

Hmm. My Excitel and Airtel's both PPPoE are UP for 3 days as of now. There is no way to checkout why Airtel's PPPoE session gets renewed but on excitel, it shows user request and lost carrier. Admin Reset is very rare. Why it shows user request when I do not renew PPPoE session?

Here's a result from airtel using a Cat6 cable to my gaming PC just for comparison.
Browsing results are very inconsistent though, it's always between 60-90%.

@Lolita_Magnum what you're experiencing with upload speeds is exactly the situation at my end with Download speeds and their NOC team even connected to my system via AnyDesk but couldn't figure out what's the issue... (They won't give you any update and close ticket)...
And also about Static IP they quoted me something around 1700-1800 (i dont remember exact figure) on yearly basis only... There's no monthly rental for Static (Even raised this with their NOC but he was like i cant do anything about that)

@rajat_ The PPPoE session is just for 48Hours...

@TheNuttyNet Downgrading lower than 200Mb will not suffice my household.

The 'NOC' person was trying to change my DNS to Google, when the issue is speed.
The next blame, went to the fiber, but there is no issue in download and initial weeks it was working fine.
Download speeds to OneBroadband speedtest servers are fine but messed up everywhere else.
Finally, he blamed my router, to which I shared that I tried directly dialing PPPoE via Desktop and the router currently being used is a Cisco ISR 4000, to which he shut-up and said that he has taken logs and will share updates once checked by the "consulting" team.

I do not have high expectations from this service anymore.
I will try Static IP for the next 2–3 months if it helps, else the quest to look for an ISP will resume again.

@Lolita_Magnum yeah everyone was playing blame game with me too... A major drawback i have is I'm on WiFi with archer c6... but still it should push 400Mbps easily within atleast 2meters on devices with 800mbps+ link speed but they were like "We'll only consider LAN results"
Btw kudos to your setup.... 💯💯

@Lolita_Magnum try out Tata Play Fiber. They do offer a one month 200 mbps trial plan similar to Jio. Although it did gave me problems recently, served pretty well over the span of 1.5years before that.
