Forgot to mention, this person did not remove the plastic wrapper from the charger. Plastic is an insulator and heat is not removed from the charger.

heh yeah. he included the 100 rupee adapter (it's listed on amazon) AND the plastic sheet that covers the charger in box in the photos.

these companies should switch to gan for their chargers. they are supposed to not get hot with time. also they should switching to the power socket so that people do not end up using them on shitty charging points.

As per my understanding, Gan chargers uses low ampere and high voltage. But OP chargers uses low voltage and high current. High current leads to heating. So probably Gan will not help here.

From the listing of the charger.

Faster, cooler, safer
The OnePlus Warp Charge 65 Power Adapter is our fastest ever charging solution. It’s smart too. Built-in, dedicated charging circuitry ensures efficient heat management and dissipation to keep your phone cool while charging. Reliable and always fast, charging is safer too thanks to automatic hardware safeguards and software optimizations. The end result? All the benefits of fast charging without downsides (overheating).

It is supposed to have safeguards to cut off the supply if any issues are detected. This looks more like a QC issue.

Not really. GaN is just a tech. It can supply the same voltage and amperage as the conventional chargers. Pretty soon all the chargers will be GaN based.

E.g. Mi already has a 65W GaN charger.

Safeguard is against the phone heating primarily. OP's charging tech leaves phone cooler because of lower voltage. But all the heavy lifting is done by the charger.

Yeah, possible. But these modern chargers definitely have some kind of safeguards to protect itself too.

E.g. I have an Anker multi port USB charger and once while doing a DIY I inadvertently shorted one of the USB pins and the charger immediately cut off it's supply. I had to power cycle it to get it back to work.
