Hey guys juss look at the attached image..i was using opendns as with a lot of users too using opendns but the results that i found here give an interesting takehttp://img692.imageshack.us/img692/4954/namebenchresults.jpg i switched over to the pacific net n the secondary as opendns still...whats your opinion??

The question is willu keep ur dns eithergoogle or opendns or ultradns or shift to the given bsnl or other dns servers given by namesake cuz dns does have an impact on the speed of pages

using OpenDNS as secondary DNS doesnt make sense if u want to use "malware/conflicker site blocking" features.

google and opendns give bad ping times when you access website that use CDNs (content delivery network) like akamai, few sites that use akamai CDN are

Code:
www.rediff.comtimesofindia.indiatimes.comibnlive.in.comwww.ndtv.com
most of the sites that i visit daily use Akamai, and i get best browsing performance when i use my ISP dns servers only. so i use Level3 (4.2.2.2) and google dns (8.8.8.8) as just secondary and th

i dont use opendns as it hijacks google pages in the name of filtering malware sites, i have good AV and anti spyware software on desktop to take care of those

also firefox and chrome have inbuilt antimalware/anti phishing website filters, best fix to not get any malware is to not use Internet explorer and keep windows uptodate

@merc782 ur very correct...we got our av n in firefox for example the best malware blocking and anti-phishing script like NoScript....just use bsnl's dns servers think we could use google or level3 or opendns servers as second and tertiary...

In between Google Public DNS & OpenDNS, Google DNS is way better in terms of speed. Only advantage of OpenDNS is web filtering. You can check performance of any DNS servers by installing applications like nameserver or DNSbench. There is huge difference in performance of Google DNS & Open DNS.

Note that if you are in bridge mode, then set your preferred DNS in both dialer & LAN (Ethernet or USB) connections. DNSbench detect flaw if any in your configuration. Check it yourself which is the best configuration for you. Download DNS bench from GRC's|DNS Nameserver Performance Benchmark
