Google announced the launch of their Public DNS, way back in December 2009 to help make the web faster for everyone. Back then, it was more of an experiment to see if it actually did help. Today, it’s no longer an experimental service. Google is the largest public DNS service in the world, handling an average of more than 70 billion requests a day, which in itself is a whopping statistic. This has been stated by the official Google blog.
if i set a static dns like google dns in my Belkinrouter settings, then ideally all wireless devices should automatically work normal like before on the new dns.but, every device doesn't connects to the net, unless the individual dns settings on each of them are changed to the static dns stored in the router.this is a very weird problem. is there any solution to it??
If your Belkinrouter is your DNS Server and you have set your devices to automatically acquire IP and DNS addresses then it should work fine, I have tried the same with my Option as well as Linksys router and both were successful.
Have you checked the IP properties of your Wireless network connection? Are the DNS addresses set to acquire automatically? Having checked these try pinging the Google DNS Servers from your PC and see if you are getting any response.
