password to access internet

hi. i have wi-fi modem. i suspect somebody using net though wi-fi ( say laptop) via my account. i dont know is it possible or not.. cc told to protect it by using password. they told some steps. but i didnt get it..so give password protection will help me? and how to create password to protect my accountthks.its very urgent plz some one help me

mention modem/make and model always for any problem.
1.
Chennai Telephones- Changing password in DataOne Pre-configured modem
You have to secure your WIFI network.
Use WPA security key or easy wep key.
Start /Network Show all connections.
2.
Along with your Network do you see other
wireless networks secured unsecured. ?

Change the Location of your wifi router.

3. Disable wireless settings if you don't need it.
Use LAN/ethernet connection to Desktop or Laptop.

Password Decryption is easy , its much better if you disable SSID broadcast and enable MAC - ID filtering

one more thing you can disable dhcp use static ip too and define ip range for your lan.
