i do not have a paypal account so i cannot see what rate they are charging right now.

Log in to your account.
Click Profile near the top of the page.
Click My money.
Click Currencies next to PayPal balance
Enter the required information under Currency Exchange and click Calculate.
The exchange rate is displayed, and you can review it before you complete your payment.

but it usually 2 rupee above the regular rate. so this adds up when you pay for something in USD.

Just check what rate PayPal is converting dollar to rupee and you would find out

They charged me $37.07 and Present Currency rate is 53.992 . I think it would be same yesterday also as I purchased yesterday night.

37.07 US dollars = 2004.7456 Indian rupeesso that is weird indeed.

well it is clear that they charged you a bit more than the prevailing dollar-rupee conversion rate resulting in a premium of around 80 rupees.

^^yes, I too have a similar feeling. Just Checked my HDFC Credit Card Unbilled Transaction and this transaction is still not updated. Let this be updated. If didn't get clarified then will raise Trouble Ticket with Paypal .

google has nothing to do with paypal. they are more like rivals in the payments market!

Paypal charged a friend Rs 728 for the Rs 699 upgrade option. So Rs 29 more.
