Peculiar behavior by Nokia Siemens C2110 modem

Hi. I've a Nokia Siemens c2110 modem for the last 2 years or so. It worked fine until recently. Now, if I switch on the modem all the LEDs keep blinking for say 10 mins or so, then all except the power LED turns off. This is where I restart the modem. Then the power LED goes on and the USB LED also turns on after a few minutes, but it immediately goes off and this process continues unless I restart again. Only after this second restart, after 5 mins of it or so, the modem turns normal and the connection gets established.It doesn't work in any other way, I mean in order to establish a connection, I am compelled to follow this strange routine I use the modem in USB mode since the Ethernet port of my motherboard has stopped working long back. What may be the cause of such peculiar behavior?!

1. May be because of using it with USB ports. Has seen members reporting problem in USB port. An ethernet card costs Rs. 300, get one for your PC and try.

2. Reset the modem, reconfigure it and check. You can use this guide to configure it

3. Check your splitter and ethernet cable. Replace if necessary.

4. If possible, get a friend's modem and check.
