Planning to switch from Airtel to Jio or Tata

Hi,

I have been using Airtel fiber internet for a long time. Pune Pimpri area. Off lately they are displaying lack of customer commitment and their connection frequently disconnects. Also when I raise an SR they give scheduled visit slot almost after 24 – 36 hours which is a too long wait.

Jio & Tata are also available in my building. I wish to know how is their overall Internet performance reliability and customer service.

Are their routers locked? Do they offer Bridge Mode? I know no one offers Public IPv4.

Any suggestions or comments you would like to make?

I belong to same area as yours
I have Jio from last 20 months, and its quite reliable and very less or no downtime. Only once my internet was down, while it was working for others in my society. So I contacted Customer Service, and my issue was resolved on same day.
I am 150 Mbps plan and whenever I test speed, its showing as per my plan. Never faced any issues about connectivity on all phones, tablets, STBs connected via WiFi. OTT content plays perfect with Full HD resolution.
I never tried to access Router so not sure if its locked. Nor I tried Bridge mode.

I would not recommend you switching to Tata Play Fiber because my experience has not been good in wakad area. Ended up disconnecting it. Their technical staff is very lethargic in resolving any issues. You will get a Nokia G-245G-A router which is pretty much locked. Although you can enable bridge mode if you login via admin and mac address of router as your password. You can't change DNS. In terms of performance it is a below average. I would highly recommend you to get your own router if you are going with Tata.
Please note that Tata Play Fiber monthly plans are expensive compared to their long term plans. You have to always recharge for atleast 3 months if you want to save some money.
Tata does provide static public IPv4 at 200+GST but there are a lot of glitches as reported by fellow IBF users. They do provide a public IPv6 though.
They do have a one month trial offer like Jio where you get full refund if you cancel it within a month.
I'd highly suggest you to try out both ISPs as they both offer one month trial services. Keep the one which performs better as per your requirements.
Edit: afaik, jio is also very poor in terms of complain resolution like tata and airtel and this is not expected to vary a lot as you live in Pimpri Chinchwad only. Also jio doesn't allow bridge mode.

I know all ISPs are same and it’s their monopoly. But as a consumer I want to exercise my option to choose alternatives.

I have following dissatisfaction with Airtel

• Their junction box is open and all wires tangled. I have told them several times to lock the box and put it under ceiling area (shed) but they have it in open area and that too box is wide open. Any instance of bird sitting on it can loosen the wire. As compared to them, Jio and Tata Play boxes are very well secured in my building and correctly located under shed
• Their engineers never attend phone calls. For any reason if I call them, they neither pick up nor call back.
• These days for last 2 months I have noticed frequent connection issues with Airtel
• My incoming cable is spliced at 3 locations from junction box to my home. I have been telling them to replace it but they do not care
• When I raise an SR they give visit time almost after 36 hours.
• Their customer care executive give textbook responses (This is everywhere)
• Their overall technical knowledge is very poor (this is everywhere)
• Now a days net@airtel is also quite lethargic

Give Jio Fiber a try. No harm in trying out all your available options.

Try jio once, my experience was good. Airtel's Service is becoming like Excitel and Excitel on the other hand is improving itself.

There has been a lot of discussion about airtel's poor service and its malpractices in multiple threads on this forum. @rohitks the points you have listed down make a lot of sense.
I personally moved from tata to airtel because of their bundled black plans. Tata didn't give any problems in last 1.5 years until i got airtel connection set up. After that it has been a downward graph in terms of everything. Their router sucks hard and so their technical ground staff. Although their customer care is excellent in terms of providing information. When i disconnected TPF, they refunded my balance amount within 2 days.
Airtel was down for me for over 48 hours last month. It was a simple fibercut issue but nobody picks up calls from their team. Had to go through the FR lead to get my issue resolved otherwise it would have been a week and nobody would have attended my problem. Its been over a month now and i had no downtime since then. I am waiting for Jio Fiber to start their services in my apartment(cable laying work is under progress).

Same experience. Fiber was cut at 6 A.M and it was fixed at 2 P.M. Even lazy Excitel's guys fix faster than them.
