Govt will always favour a solution that allows them to loot/rob people. They could have instead offered some incentives to nuclear families to promote the idea.

This is going to be disastrous. Sex selective abortion is already common and if such a bill becomes law, it will further incentivise the abhorrent practice.

Fertility rates in India at 2.2 is close to the replacement rate of 2.1. Many states fall well below the 2.1 rate.

Further, it has been shown in numerous studies that fertility rate is linked to economic status of the people. Well off people have lesser number of children. This is common across religions and castes in India.

We’ve always stood for control of population without any specific targets by providing easy access to family planning methods and incentivising birth of a girl child to bring back sex ratios to normal. That is how it should be.

So much for all that hype and hoopla about 'demographic dividend'. Since there aren't enough jobs for everyone, its going to become a monster. It could become something that will come & bite us in the rear. ☹️

@vignesh_venkataesan I've heard of southern states getting bereft of tax benefits due to poplation/demography biut I haven't heard of the govt jobs one? Can you please go into details on this point?

Maharastra has lot of laws to keep other states out even the northern ones

Thats why I will never teach my kids that India is country but an EU like system with lots of pride and prejudices toward each other.

I too believe south wasn't treated right, no matter how much hindi belt says about anti-hindi movements in south, I have seen a fair share of southies who are well versed in hindi but rarely the northern Indian knowing any popular southern languages.

Even CBSE use to have third language system and that third language was German what an irony, their first preference should be southern India's popular languages for third language system in Hindi belt and for south Hindi/other north eastern language.

tbh we will see a population collapse ,and it has already started in many countries including India
