Problem with a graphics card Nvidia 8600GT

yeah as i belong to a middle class fam and not working as of now, being a gamer i had to go with amd cus its cheaper than intel.. so i concentrated on getting a good mobo first.. that mobo costed me 5 k.. supports ddr2 1066 mhz / 1200 mhz o.c upto 16 gigs.. (i consider it future proof even with ddr3s out) and supports all the new amd cpus including six core ones..all i need now is a good psu, cabinet (eyeing a cooler master 690) and a nice cheap 19 inch lcd (probably around 7 k mark)..

so you are on an AMD too. my AMD processors reaches 55C during video encoding. i do not think 55 is a high enough temperature to kill the hardware. i remember my Dell... it used to touch 90C... was pretty bad. but no damage till now.

Did you order the AMD processor online or from local dealer? For the life in me i couldn't find a single dealer in whole of Nehru place. No one deals in amd processor in Delhi.

heh. it's not like that. you just have to find the right folks. for me, it was not that tough. the local guy in gurgaon i deal with found me the processor i was looking for. he got it for me from nehru place. if you want to know specific dealers in NP for AMD products, i can find them out for you. :)

One good thing i like about AMD is they don't change cpu sockets so often, infact you can run the hex core thubans with the motherboard you bought 3 years ago. Intel changes cpu sockets like seasons.

ooh i actually have the cooler master CM 690 cabinet. i took a similar route. spent the money on the cabinet and PSU 2 years ago. and bought a cheapo mobo and processors. when the RAM fried last month... i decided to replace the MB, Processor and RAM. i now run an AMD Quad Core Processor with 4GB DDR3RAM. Hoping that this would survive for another 2-3 years.

heheheh just like our airtel broadband tariffs change :D

actually i doubt if the Asus motherboard i bought would support the newer amd 6 core processors. it might. but i don't think i would be upgrading for another 2 years. unless of course this thing fries out. in that case i would probably switch back to intel. the amd phenom ii x4 has already caused enough trouble for me. the stock fan was so freaking noisy, i had to spend 2K on a third party HSK making it an expensive deal for me.

Well, the i3 I bought seems to be a great little chip in terms of power consumption. I have taken it 3.6Ghz with stock cooling and so far its been very stable.

I wouldn't have mind having a quad core with the money I spent on it though.
