hello every1.... problem is i hv 500c plan.....which has night unlimited. but the prolem is from 2am to 8am i don't get even 5kbps speed......so i m unable to download anything...i can't even browse the web while at other times i get as much as 1.8mbps..... i talked to local exchange they said that at that time many people use the net, thus network is congested...what i can do to resolve this problem...i m from kanpur..

BSNL may be allocating lower bandwidth to tier-2 cities. If you can afford it, move to UL750. So you are not cheated of bandwidth when you need it.

Very strange.User akshay059 what is your IP when you get connected? Are you on NIB-II? Does it begin with 117.196.xxx.xxx or something like that.

thanks for repling guys.... no....my ip is 117.199.160.xxx and by the way what is NIB II?..... actually they hav setup a new server an year ago when i got my connection....and I am connected to the new server.....is it causing the problem....i don't think it should....

NIB is National Information Backbone Part 2. Your IP suggests you are on NIB-II, just like me. So you shouldn't get such low speeds with 500C plan. Very strange.

Can you post the screenshot of your modem's Signal and Attenuation figures? (Take screenshot when the connection is very slow).

In my case (morning 0630 hours):

My figures are horrible still I get 1600kb/second in Dataone speedtest just now.

Try a test: Reboot your computer and make sure no unwanted programs or services are running. Go to Start>>Run>>type 'msconfig' and see what programs are starting automatically. Disable unecessary stuff.

Also make sure you do not schedule torrents etc to run obn schedule automatically. Run 'Spybot search and destroy' as well as 'Microsoft Malware removal tool'.

Then try Dataone Speedtest.

If you see no improvement, the problem is on BSNL side.

@akshay051
1.Test speed only at speedtest.net.
example Mine now :
https://www.speedtest.net
Not in BSNL speed test site.
2. Use opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
3. Try TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net.
check the website's advice about tweaking for speed.
4. Keep running programs/applications to the minimum.
5.Go to filehippo.com and download ccleaner.
see other useful tools applications at same site.
6. Update all drivers etc.
7.Use FireFox browser.
8.Do step 1 and one by one to see any improvement in speed
Feedback please +ve or -ve.
