query regarding STBs

Dear members.I have one question regarding STBs.If I will not recharge my DTH subscription for 3 months, will company take away my STB??:OMy friend wants to purchase one DTH, so we went to a dealer and he said about the matter(he said about every company's STB). So I would like to confirm about the same.As far as I know when I purchase Tata Sky for Rs. 4500, they didn't say anything like it.

If they were taking away STB, and paying us refund/deposit back, then all our problems would have solved easily But as it seems people are stuck with their STBs, Tata Sky (or any operators) doesn't take back their STB (though dish/LNB they could take back as the agreement documents mentions that dish/LNB is belongs to them).

We can retain the STB if we happen to submit it back they will accept it to refurbish the STB it is better to have position of the STB.
