hey guys this is quite interesting.
i am based at bbsr,orissa,india.
i dont if it is for u all or not,bt for me it sure is interesting.

i just went about doing speedtests from various severs around the world at 2200 hrs ist and i am getting varried upload speeds.
i can understand download speeds to be less for far off severs but for uploads its just the opposite.
so can anyone plz explain me that......

to tell u,there was no background internet activity-browsing,downloading,upload program update etc. during all tests.

so can anyone plz explain me barring cape town,SA server how did i get more upload speeds on foreign servers??? or so to put it in another way on what does upload speeds depend????

This is not ann answer to the above post..
But i'm posting here coz i felt quite intersted about this..

As soon soon as i have known that BSNL has changed the data usage details page i logged into it and checked my usage details (at 10pm 24 march)
it showed
billable usage (8am-2am)=662MB and
free usage (2am-8am)=19752MB
I dont have a screenshot of billable usage, but had it for unbillable usage.. see this below

you can see 98 entries in this data meter.
I checked again after two hours(12.30am 25 march) and found my usage as below
billable usage (8am-2am) = 659 MB
Unbillable usage(2am-8am)=18252MB
Ithought it was a minor error and ignored it

Now again (08.00 am 25 march) I checked just now and found this..
billable usage (8am-2am) = 574 MB
Unbillable usage(2am-8am)=16934 MB .. see this screenshot

here there are 99 entries
I got my connection on 19 th of this month. so the usage is so less.

Now i'm confused..
How did my usage got reduced with in hours, In all these checks, the last usage data ws recorded on 24-03-208 morning 5.00am to 5.30 am

Even you can see, the serial number in the newer check is 99 where as it had only 98 entries in the previous check.

Even if BSNL has upgraded this page, they might have used just addition, to calculate the total data, so how could that change..

As i'll be having connection for only 13 days in march(From 19th to 31st), i'm entitled only 650MB of free datatime usage. So what if the data usage meter pumps up again, and by that time, i might have exceeded my limit..

Is this a trick?

Now i checked my data usage again and the it changed again..

You can observe the difference betweenmy two posts here..
The number of entries are increasing and the data usage meter is going down..

Anyone else faced this?? please let me know.

data usage meter is going down..
Probably it is a Down Counter shows your Data usage still left. Wht is your tariff plan and free day quota ?
Since you have joined in the middle of the month, starting ( 1.5 GB )Figure may not have been corrected. ( free night usage what ever it shows academic interest only. but will be useful if there is a billing problem Extract at end of month and save to Hard disk!)
Please use @arindam's usage program ( for IE) and check the totals.
or in FF/greasemonkey/achag1's program.
Or use a simple calculator !!

I think you have used about 1 GB so far in day time!

Sorry..I deleted the image..I am under Home 500C plan..yes previously,2days back when i checked it, i exceeded 1GB limit.But. If it is the left over data, then why should the data amount during 2-8am also gone down.(there is no limit during night time)any way i'll calculate the total usage now..Yes now its showing the correct data, billable usage=746MB ..
