hey guys i hope u have noticed that ts has added rajya sabha in AVTVE DOORDARSHAN.... of late, they have been adding some(useless??) channels like topper tv, news 24 and now rajya sabha WITHOUT GIVING ALERTS... the reason could be the non popularity of these channls and they could be waiting for channels like topper tv(india's 1st 24-hour educational channel) to become popular and then may be add it to a paricular package....:wall:!!!

They are not giving any alerts for any new channel now. I haven't seen any alerts for all the channels added in last 3-4 months. Only alerts that we get is about games. They have added these channels in Active Service so we can't view in regular mode unless we go to Active Service. I hardly go to Active Service for these channels. It would have been better had they added them as regular channels where they could have shown same size window like in Active Services rather than where person has to click special button and see these. Although most of these are useless channels but we could have seen here and there while surfing around.
rajya sabha is i think compulsory forced by the indian government...
ya it is compulsory for cable opertors(and may be for dth too)
here is the excerpt from the regulation bill,2006
7. Compulsory transmission of Public Broadcasters' channels:
(1) Every cable operator shall carry Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha channels and at least two Doordarshan terrestrial channels and one regional language channel of a state in the prime band, in satellite mode on frequencies other than those carrying terrestrialfrequencies.
(2) The channels referred to in sub-section (1) shall be re-transmitted without any deletion or alteration of any program transmitted on such channels.
(3) The Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India) established under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990 may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify the additional number and name of every Doordarshan channel to be re-transmitted by the cable operators in their cable service and the manner of reception and transmission of such channels.
