Looking from some posts (https://broadband.forum/tata-sky-dth/16280-malayalam-channels-dth-compared-cable/), I wonder what would be situation when every language would have 15-20 channels in future, it would be impossible for any DTH provider to provide all channels. Then possibly regional DTH player may emerge as cheap & good option. Some operator may book few transponders on satellite & just provide particular language channels and interested people may opt for him. I think SUN DTH looks like 1st step towards it if SUN keeps concentrating on South Indian market

yes .. absolutely correct.. sun is goint to capture south india.. Tata Sky is doing well in north.. just East and West are divided between TS and dishtv..

sun will just launch in south india first..

hello friends
(https://broadband.forum/tata-sky-dt...ompared-cable/ (malayalam channels in dth compared to cable)), I posted this tread by this i just try to say both Tata Sky and dishtv avoiding regional languages (in malayalam all the channels are free to air)when u compared u can see that all most all the channels in hindi are available but they avoiding regional channels ( may be the reason is transponder scarcity) from various other treads i realised that 4 ku band transponder are free and available in nss6 (dish tv can use that )

I think SUN DTH looks like 1st step towards it if SUN keeps concentrating on South Indian market its solving reginal channel probs

another solution is dishtv/tatsky concentrate only on pay chennels so they can save space for free to air channels and all those fta channels provided through dd direct .for every customer tatsky/dish tv pay a some percentage of amount (for ex 5%) to dd direct for using their service (because its their duty to provide all channels this arrangement reduce their opeartion cost like transponder rent transmission etc) so automatically it makes revenue to dd direct plus (so they can avoid transmission charges from broadcasters using dd direct )
so ultimately dd direct users get all fta channels

this is only a suggestion (i know its not happen)

dont think iam appealing for regional / language wise its a fact if u dont provide all the channels in a language its difficult to make a good market especially in a region where cable is very strong

dth in india is mess completely, nobody is interested in customer views, andsatisfaction , or what customer is interested just interested in making money, therefore we have so many operators coming up.
