Reliance Jio Infocomm to provide Internet speed of 1.4 terabit per second - Business Today

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to provide fourth generation (4G) LTE wireless services across India by June this year. While this has made headlines during the last couple of years, the catch lies elsewhere.

The company plans to provide Internet speed of 1.4 terabit per second, enough to transmit 44 high-definition (HD) movies at once.

Ye to rumour ka baap lag raha hai. Even Korea and Europe does not provide 1.4 TB speed per second I suppose. 10 Mbps speed hi de de at an affordable price ACT Fibernet and it would rock and roll. Hope they do not attempt too high.

Waise ye launch kab hoga?

All press releases by RJio (either direct or indirect) like saying launching on DA Birthday, going to offer 1GB 4G data for 10Rs, RJio going to help e-governance, launching with a bang, Jio Drive with 100GB free cloud storage, Jio this, Jio that, 4G WIFI (WTF), etc etc are like April fool pranks only...

Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) will charge the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with their ’3G killing’ 4G services for mobile phones, especially for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Cricket fans will be able to use superior Internet speeds while watching the IPL 2015 matches. The Wankhede Stadium has a capacity of 30,000 spectators and the IPL 8 starts on April 8, 2015.

Nothing on such a scale has ever been done before in India. DNA reports that the testing for available 4G services of Reliance Jio is being done at the moment so that there are no bugs in performance during the nearly two-month long tournament. It is a fabulous publicity stunt and we would genuinely think about changing mobile providers if the service impresses us with the tentative data connection plan tariffs.

If the 4G speeds can be trusted then spectators will be able to use their devices to share high-quality images, videos and even chat with their family and friends from the stadium. Reliance Jio is the only telecom operator in India that holds a licence to be able to provide 4G services in any part of India. We certainly hope that when we take our seats at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 8, we should be able to experience incredible speeds and click some fun selfies! (Edited by Shweta Parande)

It does seem that Reliance is running a PR campaign spreading rumour/news (nothing sure until confirmed). So, it might be true too.
I can understand why they would HUGELY benefit from providing free 4g internet to spectators and team staff etc. at the stadium. Everybody would go blah blah about their 4g speeds everywhere as IPL would again occupy important media space during the next two months as always. Mumbai also has the top matches always such as semis and finals. So, that would be a huge publicity for two whole months without spending much money and then they can make a massive launch in June/July when the news is still hot and they can sell their connections like pancakes all over India. That would be the perfect PR campaign for any company before the launch of its high profile service.

If I would have been Ambani, it would definitely make a lot of sense to launch Jio soon when the news is still hot and everybody is going ga ga over the speeds on TV and other media. So, this makes me think that is Jio launch in the pipeline soon. I am just another BSNL user who is hoping for some pan-India competition in the broadband field.

instead of 4g I am waiting when reliance will increase the speed of its thunder plans now. I feel no wired broadband is doing anything to improve their status. I still feel that other than portability FTTH will be the best option though I dont know that as and when it will available PAN India

I installed jio chat. Looks promising to me though I have not checked how video call and channels work over it because I am on 2G atm. I will try that on my wifi. If any one can try it now and gives his/her review that will be better. its available on playstore
