Guys in my area airtel deployed under ground fiber and installed ONU boxes in poles, buildings 2 years ago like jio . My doubt is it v-fiber or ftth ? If i take 100Mbps connection will i get full speed or less speed ? How to differentiate v-fiber and ftth ?
Any idea guys ?

@Vishal | Chennai Just open the box and check. If it has conventional copper terminals, it's most likely a VDSL. FTTH Box would have thin white wires and Green FTTH terminals like the one you insert in your Jio router. you could also contact the local Airtel engineer who does the Installation.

It's not about want. It's just that the UL speed cap is artificial. On FTTH, Jio isn't gaining anything by capping UL speed. This is not copper with limited bandwidth.

Maybe they know how shitty their plan limts are... so they want to make sure customer do not upload much & reach FUP earlier...

Is it possible to provision the upstream bandwidth of GPON for downstream ?
The Practice of having lower upload bandwidth in the US due to usage of DOCSIS on Cable for internet.
As they have very limited upstream bandwidth, they set very low bandwidth for upload. Though hathway uses GPON in Chennai, their plans will give you only half the upload bandwidth to the download bandwidth.
If u take a 150 Mbps plan on Hathway , it will have 75 Mbps for upload.

@yougotmehere it's ftth ! Similar to Jio fiber ! So there is no bandwidth limitations right ? Like v-fiber

@Vishal | Chennai That's definitely fiber, You'll get more than promised speeds on both Download and Upload.
Which locality do you live in Chennai bro?
You can get 100Mbps 3333Tb for about 1200 Bucks including GST. For limited time, they are providing first month rental free, I don't know whether it's applicable for Chennai.
