I have both Jiofibre and Airtel fiber at home. So will give you some advantages and disadvantages of both.(Have used Jiofibre since 10 months and now Airtel Fibre for 15 days almost. Presently using both. Will continue the one providing better service.
Jiofibre
Advantages
1. Higher international speeds compared to airtel.
2. Better quality
ONT in terms of WIFI range.
3. Free Jio set top box. Which is improving day by day. Now with
Netflix announcement, it can be a deal breaker for some. I have multiple
Android boxes at home. Jiofibre set top box is the best I feel.
4. Free OTT subscriptions which can be used on multiple devices. But not for all OTTs.
5. In lockdown reliance customer support I feel is better than Airtel.
6. Jiofibre is providing installation and services themselves but Airtel for some Reason has outsourced service and Installation to Airtel franchise stores at most places. And at some places it's totally LCO model.
Disadvantages
1. Poor upload speeds
2. Locked ONT/
Router. Can't put on bridge mode.
3. In lockdown their internet speeds outside their own network had issues at peak time. Even at 250 Mbps plan there used to irritanting buffering. But this has settled now since last 10 days.
4. In general poor customer support compared to Airtel fiber. And complaint resolution time is more. Poor quality local service engineers. Infact they are not engineers but more like telephone linemen.
5. Landline has weird ringtone and poor stability. But now stability has improved since last 1 month.
Airtel fiber
Advantages
1. Symmetric uploads and downloads.
2.
Huawei Routers are open . Some are able to put it on bridge mode. But not all routers are open. Even with Huawei not all are able to put bridge mode. Firmware updates will be provided by Airtel only. So this can change in future. Airtel is very poor in providing firmware updates.
3. Stability is better than Jiofibre.
4. Landline is Rocksolid. And quality is same as airtel DSL , so never felt the change.
5. Better service engineers . I can say that when I had DSL from Airtel. But now after local Airtel stores involved ,I am not sure if this is true anymore.
Disadvantages
1. Just ridiculous international speeds. Speeds outside India compared to Jiofibre is 20% to 50%.
2. Poor WiFi range of ONTs . Almost any ONT WiFi range is poor. So attaching a secondary wifi router is must. Think that they only provide ONT not wifi router.
3. In lockdown their support is worse than Jiofibre. It appears as if Airtel has completely surrendered to local Airtel stores for service and installation and Airtel as a company appears to be totally shut down . They don't respond to mails neither customer care, neither nodal officer not even applatte. . Airtel toll free number has switchef off options were you can speak to customer care. In contrast in lockdown Jiofibre has actually improved. Jiofibre has resolved most of their issues which were existing prior to lockdown. Issues related to ping, Jiofibre stability, Jiofibre set top box. Actually they are trying to solve issues at central level or at Mumbai office. Continuous firmware updates for both Jiofibre set top box and Jiofibre ONT.
4. Free OTT app Airtel Xtreme has poor resolution so never used. And only recently provided
Android TV apk.
