they should have atleast slashed it to 2GB/day. Still you cant beat free data and the calls to AVOID is much better now so its still good as your sidekick sim.
4G speeds should improve further in 2017.

Same here, for me also its happy news. I don't surely consume 1GB per day. But with JIO I can use any app (like Facebook, Twitter, Maps) without worrying about data consumed. Occasionally I download videos from Youtube or Hotstar for offline viewing.
