seems like it. it might be offering some storage to be used as a pen drive. i believe a lot of these devices also offer sdcard/usbport for expandable storage on the move.

JIOFI2 isn't good. Don't go by screenshoot's of other's. It's N150 with bandwidth/channel width set to default 20mhz and you can't change it so connection speed is 72mbps for a LTE network with potential max speed of 100mbps and when you tether directly via usb connection speed is 425mbps ( mostly 400+mbps ) . Every thing is locked , You don't have much to do with device interface other than wifi ssid and password. Yes , their is SD card storage feature which works with mine 16gb sd card but again it's not FTP , you could acess it via 192.168.1.1 via web browser only and you couldn't change these IP(DHCP via which you access routers interface ) as it was interfering with mine other router interface and had to change it's IP address ( connected to multiple wifi network via multiple adpater's) . The worst part is its range, I compared it with old Bintone router n150 router and found signal strength atleast 30percent plus in the later one. Connection speed is already 72 mbps but once the obstacle comes it changes to 39/52 mbps with practical speed being much lower (25-35mbps) and upload being near to 20mpbs ( checked via sd card feature). I checked these with multiple PC's , mobile and wifi adapter's. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, Outside the box the mfg date and imprt date was july 2016.It a cheap and overpriced device. Looking at the fact it's network locked it not even worth half the price it's sold for. Better wait for JIO link .
SIM is isn't activated as of now , so can't tell about network though.

@snik : Sim is issued separately. They can't put the sim in the device from manufacturer side only. By locked to jio I meant that you couldn't search manually for any other network, if you put other sim like airtel 4g its willn't work, device is only for jio and even bands supported are 3 , 5 , 40 which are jio band's only(4g only bands no 3g/2g bands ) .

I agree with everything you have said. It made sense when Jio SIMs were only available on LYF phones, the JioFi2 and Samsung phones. Now that the offer is open to every 4G I suggest people look for a better 4G dongle.

I know that but 4GB ROM and 2GB ram aren't too much? I feel there is typing mistake.
No , it's 248MB RAM that also DDR2 ( That 2GB is false as it's 2Gb that is gigabit only not bytes ) . 4GB SLC NAND is true but again that is only for firmware. I asked about these to JIO executive ( as he did surprise visit to DX store) . He said that they will be providing JIO apps via JIOFI itself in future firmware upgrades, so more memory.

Thanx for the information by the way its the first time I am seeing someone expressing storage in bits :p I have always seen in bytes.
I think you should not compare its coverage with a typical router, MiFi are built for connectivity on the go and it consumes lesser power than typical router and also it runs on battery so lesser coverage is obvious and capping at 72mbps is pain in the ass.
By the way what's the maximum speed supported by your laptop's wifi card? Isn't your laptop itself supports max 72mbps? By the way when I USB tether my phone it detected as 425mbps LAN.

You still gotta consider buying this device if you are looking for mifi based plans after launch,so good or no good gotta get one if you are looking for a dongle based approach..
