I cannot really think of people buying Blackberry 10 devices just because of BBM considering the costs of the first generation devices. Especially when even Blackberry is now heavily promoting alternative apps like Whatsapp on their BB10 platform.
BBM is no longer a factor in buying Blackberry devices. That market has been lost to Whatsapp and Line depending upon what markets you look at.

I know a lot of people who would go for BB because of BBM. It's decreasing as a factor, but it still is for some. After this announcement, it's no longer a factor though. And also to Kakao Talk in Korea
