Why would they need to spend 35K? For BBM, only the platform was required. They can always buy an older one or a second hand one.

How does that do any good to Blackberry? If no one is still going to buy their current generation service?

Some of my idiot friends bought bb curve because of bbm...I cannot win with them and make them believe that it's a waste of money (bbm for 10k phone + monthly)

I never said it does. BB needed something exclusive and appealing to bring back the users. Opening BBM is a shot in the foot at this time. Already people want reasons to port out and with this move, well god help them.

Nokia is hurting Windows Phone by restricting apps to Lumia devices. Exclusivity does not help your platforms these days. If it did Android would not be where it is today. Tons of exclusive apps in iOS. Blackberry is doing good by expanding into the services market. Offer products and services on all platforms. It no longer is sensible to operate on Apple's business model.BBM is not going to save Blackberry. They need to expands in products and services that has a larger user base.

I think they will generate a BBM pin on the basis of the IMEI of the device. And maybe even charge for the generation of the Pin.

As far as mass adoption of BBM on android goes, they need to offer more, as they have promised. Stuff like video chats, sending music files, etc can ensure loyalty to thus app over other free texters. We'll have to see how this pans out. If they charge monthly, I don't belive they'll enjoy wide adaption.
