that is another point. if you are happy with your cable guy... why would you bother to shift to DTH?

i would have never shifted to IPTV in the first place if my local cable guy was interested in providing usable services to me.

Dear I am happy with Dish DTH and their packages and price with picture quality. Everybody knows local cable cant me such kind of picture quality. i am not happy with cable with quality and service. we just need more Bengali channes.....

actually cable guys can easily compete with DTH on quality. and some of them are doing so. in my building here... cable guys deliver cable through fiber and DEN based set top boxes. quality is pretty awesome.

DTH has taken over cable. If cable operators upgrade their hardware and network DTH will face stiff competition from cable operators apart from active service.

DTH has not taken over cable. CAS has taken over from cable. DTH operators are lucky that cable operators in the country suck. And if people are going for DTH despite having good quality cable in their locality, they are pretty much stupid paying for individual television sets.

@admin,I do understand that only those chs which has a large customer base can be added, but you can't overlook the fact that Dish TV focuses more on one particular regional genre and all other regional zones are getting neglected. So whenever a new ch from those 'neglected' regional zones are added, I think we must appreciate it.Anyways...I however agree to you when you said that the DTH operators are lucky that the cable services in the country are full of shit. In my CAS-enabled area however, they are so-so. The cost is Rs.200 [all taxes included], but around 20-23 pay chs are excluded from the package. So if I take those chs @Rs.6/ch, it comes near to the expenditure I make towards Dish TV. So for me there is no loss/gain for shifting to DTH or staying with cable apart from a difference of Rs.10-20. But off late I am facing some tremendous prob with Dish TV STB..! The STB is hanging every now and then. All of a sudden, the "OK" button does not work. Buttons do not respond on time. STB also hangs or becomes slow when the EPG is checked. I am having a tough time with the STB now.

Agree with you.If one is getting over 150 channels for just 150rs in Cable with STB then why he needs to go for DTH.He wont have to worry about channels being cutoff if not paid on date.Also on Cable one will get the channels related of his region + important channels like GEC,Sports,News,Movies. No need for subscribtions or ADDONs.And he can connect to as many TVs as he wants

You just need to get your STB alright by retuning it or exchange it by swapping.Thats all you can be happy with Dishtv again
