I see some people using ancient iPhones which support 4G (5s, 6, 8), so iPhone 12 can last for 3-4 years.
But Apple should not mess anything with future updates.

Apple is known to support its devices for as long as possible (also for things like battery gate). A friend of mine who’s using an iPhone 11 Pro, received iOS 16 soon after it was released for 13 devices.

iPhone battery dies in a year or two. After a while, you would hardly get 50% of the actual battery backup.

I guess you can replace battery.

If battery health falls below 80% in the first year, you get a battery replacement for free. So I’m not sure where the figure of 50% battery loss in a year or two is coming from.
