Hi I start this new topic with lot of hope. I have dvb-s pci card. I've few questions1) How much it cost for me ? 2) Is it available in India? 3) Is it worth to use at home ?I heard it gives a speed of 10 to 16 mbpsIt is of two types one way or two way In one way you upload with your isp and download is done by satellite at very high speed it less expensive than two way But the two way is speedy but expensive . It is good for business use .Can any one help me about it Thanks for reply in advance

Thanks I checked these all but these are too expensive think these are for business use as they can afford that much monthly rent for high speed net. I though sky grabber is good but it doesn't work for me. I tried only once. I shall try it again for high speed download. If anyone tried this can help me.Thanks again

Hey
I visit your site its cool. You've realy strong profile. Would you like to be my friend.
Thanks

Yes sure but I think there should be some plane for home users because no one can pay 4000 or 4500 per month just for internet.
Is there any other way I can connect to internet by satellite? Airtell also provide 15 mbps speed for business use . I don't know about there rate plane. It must be expensive.

ahem. that is why we have dsl and cable based internet. coz they are cheaper to provide.airtel provides 16mbps connectivity in some regions for prices between 3000-5000 for 20GB and 50GB of data transfer.

^ Depends on what your parameters for 'fast' and 'cheap' are. As far as high volume downloads at higher speeds are considered, Airtel beats all ISPs fair and square.

airtel experience plans have kicked asses of all the isps in the indian market.

Satellite Internet always had & will have Latency trouble, its a technical hitch & not worth for real time apps. However it is good for continuous down streaming. It is costly & meant for remote access say at offshore oil drilling rigs, scientific missions of anatartica, sahara desert, intercontinental ship travel etc.

Mobile satellite Wireless internet access (subscriber ends also inclusive) requires extensive regulatory & licensing conditions of every country (local laws as applicable) due to security concerns like espionage etc.

I do not see reason as to Why the hell any home user or corp user would like to have have satellite internet access wereas there are always alternate no fuss access methodolology available in the market.

However fixed satellite internet (thru DTH) or VSAT terminals may be possible with out much regulatory fuss but has the same latency trouble for real time apps.

Forgot to add that Satellite Internet Latency issues to some extent are adressed by using LEO satellites (Low Earth Orbiting Satellites at a distance of 160 - 2,000 km above earth Surface). Eg : Global Star, IRIDIUM Etc.

Old time GEO (Geostationary Earth Orbit) satellites placed at altitude of 35,786 Km (0 degree equator latitude) are no good for satellite internet apps.

Other traditional satellite internet access medium is VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal), in india we have companies like Hughes Communications India Ltd. (HCIL), Comsat MAX LTD etc, :irock:
