NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has admitted the Centre's petition challenging the broadcast tribunal's judgment that licence fees for
direct-to-home (DTH) services should be charged on adjusted gross revenue and not gross revenue.

TS always creating problems. They are greedy charges customer too much and now not willing to pay taxes to the government.

If the Government reduce Taxes for DTH companies, they ll surely reduce their prices. Here, Tata Sky is not greedy. Government only greedy.

Who wants to pay taxes if it can be avoided. There is a whale of difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. Some media companies, especially cable distribution companies, evade tax by not distributing their customer base, not giving receipts and using political means and government support to crush competition and flourish.

yeap. its a vicious circle i guess. taxes are high coz not everyone pays them. if everyone pays taxes, they might go low for everyone. but then why would people pay taxes when they can avoid that hassle. plus, most people believe that they do not get their money's worth by paying taxes. i am part of that group.

The government has to take the first step.Revenue goes up because of higher compliance if tax levels are reduced.Government must reduce expenditure to match income levels.Air India will now gobble up 4000+ crores for rejuvenation.

government should get out of as many fields as possible where they are in direct competition with private players who pay taxes that is probably used by their rivals

Let us get back to Kautilya days - one sixth of earnings to be paid to the king as tax, with adjustments for nature's intransigences!But the village communities have to collect for local maintenance and welfare expenses.

hehe. dunno but i think norway has a pretty decent structure. people pay shit load of money as taxes. but the government gives them back so much that paying taxes does not really hurt in the end. top class medical facility available to all for free without any policies and stuff. and similar stuff. oslo is said to be one of the best cities to live in.
