Looks like Yahoo ang Google tieup on ad front has forced Microsoft to go on backfoot. That tieup might have clause of some timeframe say for 2yrs. So even if MS takes over Yahoo (by any means), it would be tough for them to terminate that tieup, without falling in legal hassles and that too may be tough to win as well, if Google sues them. Thats what probably their legal advisors must have told them, as sole purpose of their Yahoo take over was to compete Google on ad-front.

stock price goes down more.

microsoft comes back with a cheaper offer.

lawyers would become richer.

today is sunday. we would know how the investors react in a couple of days. yahoo would not be able to get out of this mess so easily. :)but the fact remains antitrust bodies are not likely to allow the deal even if yahoo surrenders or accept any possible future bid.
 
yes longway for MS to go. and i guess Yahoo wud be having no idea what its future wud be.its valley for them on both sides.
