The way things are at Yahoo, (CEO fired, 1000 odd employees fired), M$FT might bid hard and Yahoo might oblige. M$FT needs Yahoo more than Google. Its an important strategic move for M$FT. For Google its just a way to keep M$FT at bay.IMHO, Google shouldn't be worried about M$FT+Yahoo combo.

OMG Google has abused MS in their official blog calling them illegal monopolists hehe , see Official Google Blog: Yahoo! and the future of the Internet

I dont beleive this - why are they putting holier-than-thou airs.. Don't we all know that they like to gobble up other companies with a propensity comparable(if not more than) to that of M$s? I didnt know they were into hypocritic double talk as well...

@gregory: You have a point when you said MS is good at developer tool. They have used this as a clever ploy(either inadvertently or otherwise) to get all developers on their side by easing their lives with development goodies. THis has made development for other non-windows platforms appear difficult as hell in a relative sense.

well google+yahoo would be a bigger trouble for microsoft than microsoft+yahoo for google.

makes complete sense for google. they help yahoo. yahoo uses google engine on yahoo search. microsoft goes mad. mr. ballmer throws some more chairs in his office.

I remember the chair throwing alright.

"F**k! F**kin Eric Schmidt is a f**king pussy!" Bam wham Bam.

a lawyer from ms made a short press statement saying its google that has the dominant share in online advertising etc, cant find the link atm...but yea, this stance by google is probably just to get the antitrust regulators thinking whether to approve the merger or not if yahoo accepts heheven if the deal were to go thru, im sure its easy for google to poach the best and the brightest talent from yahoo, of course they will need to take a year or so "off" to avoid the anti-poaching laws :)

MS and Google both are business firms. Business always comes first then customer. Both try to block each others way whatever way.

Today, Google is the dominant search engine and advertising company on the Web. Google has amassed about 75 percent of paid search revenues worldwide and its share continues to grow. According to published reports, Google currently has more than 65 percent search query share in the U.S. and more than 85 percent in Europe. Microsoft and Yahoo! on the other hand have roughly 30 percent combined in the U.S. and approximately 10 percent combined in Europe.
