Yep internet revolution has become a big failure for Microsoft. Even Hotmail is not popular anymore.

hotmail still remains one of the most used webmail services. as for bing... microsoft is in it for long term. and they are doing a smart thing with their investment in facebook. the recently launched facebook's social tools (the like button for example)... facebook is expected to use it to develop a social search engine like service that can be utilized by bing to provide mmm more relevant results? search has changed a lot in the recent years (we now are used to getting up to date pages on the first page of any searched for keyword!)... it is going to evolve more and well microsoft could have facebook as the trump card unless of course facebook becomes bigger than mmm bing! :D

yes hotmail remains most used, because if got a head start. but i now hardly see NEW ppl using hotmail, i dont think i have added any NEW address in my addressbook containing hotmail, since last 2-3 yrs now.

the thing with hotmail is that people who started using it are stuck with it. same case with the old ISP based email addresses. even today i see businesses using vsnl.net.in (and similar) email ids.and well i also see people using in.com and rediffmail.com email ids for some reason or the other... :D
