Hello, BSNL has given me WA3002-G4. It is a type IV modem & looks good. I want to set it up wirelessly with my laptop for DataOne. As of now, my laptop is able to communicate with it wirelessly and see the modem settings through the browser by opening 192.168.1.1Can someone spare some time to setup the various settings on this modem? Looks like BSNL is givings this to people who opt for outright purchase of Type II or Type IV modem all over ( Maharashtra & Andhra that I know as of now). Do let me know if you need any further info. Thanks in advance. Ravindra.

Congrats.Open the modem and make a copy of all the existing entries !!!
leave it alone. There is nothing more to adjust , at present.
Use it for a week or so, then post your problem if any.
Presume you have only one computer viz :laptop. and you are able to surf the internet.
In your computer : start run cmd type ipconfig/all
make a note of the entries.

do anyone have any idea about idle time in modem.. and how to change it.. i am using wa3002G4 modem...

post screen shot of modem page having this setting. for dial up modem it seems.
The Disconnect If Idle feature works on both the modem configuration and the connection configuration. If your modem is disconnecting after a period of idle time and you want to change the behavior, first check the connection properties. If the connection properties are not set to disconnect, then you can check the modem settings.
To check the modem settings for Disconnect If Idle, follow these steps:

1. Click Start | Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options.
2. Click the Modems tab. Select your modem in the list and click Properties.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click the Change Default Preferences button.
4.
On the General tab, clear the Disconnect a Call If Idle... check box, or change the value if desired. Click OK and OK again.

Some ISPs also have disconnect if the call is idle. If the settings are correct on your end, then your ISP may be disconnecting you. If this is the case, then you can have your e-mail program check for mail automatically every 5 minutes—this will keep your connection alive so that it does not time out.
