I am getting a download speed of 28-32 KBps in dataone 900UL+ when my friend who stays in RT nagar has taken a new connection the same package (900+) where i am in, but he is getting a constant speed anywhere b/w 55-63. I stay in jayanagar and i am hardly abt a km from the exchange. I am in dataone.in domain and my friend is in bsnl.in domainpls let me know what might be the problem? I am using Netgear DG834G ADSL2+ modem and wireless router

Did you Compare the download transfer speed in the LAN network and Wireless network ?
Which one you use most for d/l? LAN will show higher figure.

these are the speeds you are supposed to get in home900 with 256kbps speed.either you misunderstood the speeds of your friend(note the average speed achieved during downloading not 2-3 min of high speed) or your friend just got lucky.

^^ I would agree with the getting lucky part. These days the newer subscribers are getting more than what they had bargained for 
My friend is using UTstar com modem which he got it from BSNL. I personally checked the download speed by downloading a small file a size of about 3 MB and I was amazed seeing the blazing speed and the speed is constant at 59kbps. I also asked some other people who are in the same package but with bsnl.in domain and they are also getting the same speed and some of them are getting a much higher speed (75kbps)
I am not using wifi to acces net i only use LAN connection. I have also checked in speedguide.net but it says 32KBps download and 8KBps upload. I even contaced the divisonal engineer but he could not give me a satisfactory reply. In the router/modem web configuration page, ADSL connection speed for download shows as 2048kbps and 512kbps for upload whereas in my friend's modem it says 8100kbps and 512kbps for upload

I did all the solutions which you guys advised but its of no use. ADSLconnection speed still shows as 2048kbps and download speed is 32KBps. Initially it starts with 100+ and then comes down gradually and becomes constant between 28-34KBpsIs this because I am in NIB 1 and domain dataone.in as new customers are put in domain bsnl.in. somebody told me that they are in multiplay switch is it true

Ideally u have to be getting 256kbps (32kBps). If your friend is getting higher speeds on this plan, then its a goof up of bsnl. I am on h500 and i should be getting 2048kbps, but my friends are getting 4-6mbps. I cant complain to BSNL that i am getting slow speeds. Because am getting what i was promised.
