What figures are you getting?
Remember one rarely gets the full download speed from one site or download, because of bottleneck at the other end. Try to set up lots of different downloads from different p2p/ftp etc and see how much you are able to get.
Also if your modem has this function, go to it and see your SNR and attenuation figures. Should give some hint if problem is in your line or BSNL end.
I am having terrible time in Jaipur as well. At times this is just like having dial-up connection. Not only are the speeds bad, but now most sites are not loading. (Could be
DNS issue, pure luck this forum loaded. I am actually going through bookmarks to find out which sites are not loading.)
IMO, it is pathetic that these jokers cannot even set up proper DNS clusters, or provide decent account managemnt etc, when smaller organization and even individuals in USA do it much better!
Do not wait and suffer, keep calling that call center number at least twice a day. Let these people realize that users are being affected by their incompetence.
