Hi Guys,
I am new user for BSNL. I am having UT300R2U(New FirmWare). I tried for portforwarding. But i got the links for old firmware in this broadbandforum.co. and i tried in google and i got this Port Forwarding UTStarcom UT300R2U Adsl Modem/Router

I did as said in that link. I checked the port and it says it is working properly(opened) with the uTorretn software.
Ok, Now my question is, if i want to rollback means, should i un do the steps what i did? I did un-do the all steps and checked again and the website(for checeking port) says there may be some problem in opening the port(says not opened). Is the right procedure?

My Second question is, What is PPPOE and BRIDGE mode. I dont know what is my mode is? How can i find what mode i am using?( i did nothing in my router. i am using as given by BSNL). I found in net that using in Bridge mode is not safer. What dangerous will come?

Sorry to ask these questions?

(Surfing net thorougly may answer my question. But i know nothing about these things so i dont know where to start. Thats why i am asking here. Sorry for asking this)

Any question is always welcome. :)

PPPoE and Bridge mode are two different methods to connect to internet. It is a setting in your modem. It is a second's job to find out your mode. If you are in PPPoE, you can connect to internet by simply switching on your modem, nothing else.

If you are in Bridge mode, you need to use a dialler to connect to internet. ie, you need to click a dialler and then click " connect ".

To roll back from Port forwarding, simply remove the open ports definition in your modem. You might have missed the Static IP configuration. Hence the error.

Thanks for the Reply. Static Config---> I put 192.168.1.2 in the TCP/IP setting. Is this? No error for me. Its working and the site(to check open port) also says it is opened. I just switch on my modem to connect internet. Can you tell me the way to convert it to Bridge mode. Mind is new Firmware

Type 192.168.1.1 in the browser. You will be prompted for ID and password, both are admin. Select the WAN settings page, change to Bridge mode.

192.168.1.2 is not a static IP. It will be something like 192.168.1.25 . You can use this one if you like. The link I gave, should have method to configure static IP. Please go through.

hi. I dont have Virtual server option in WAN Setup. What should i do? Shall i follow the procedure in the link i gave ah? How do i change to Bridge mode. I add one in WAN as said in Wiki. I got two one for pppoe and bridge. You said in bridge there is a need for dial up. But after i add one Bridge setting, i can connect to internet without dial up. Where i am doing mistake? Should i delete the first one(PPPoe Setup)?

In Always On mode you can enable this DMZ.
Give your IP. ( Not modem,s)
Use Resident Antvirus and Firewall program/s , as all PORTS
are open In DMZ.

Will not advice to try a Firmware to get the Virtual server
option. Try to change the modem with BSNL.
Give an excuse, that you want
to use a laptop.

Check WIKI pages for modem settings.
If you need wit screen sots give feed back.
Open WAN Page edit uncheck ppp/PPPoE select " Bridged"
SAVE Reboot. Wait for two minutes.
The you use a dialer to connect.
