And that still isnt solving their problem ryt? Their problem is low sales of their original stuff, which will still remain. As the technically challenged people who are blocked, will go to the local pirate! So again it boils down to the same thing. Instead of the product lying unsold in shelf, its better to sell it off at lower rates! Just like how i got CNC4 and a Multiplayer version of Battlefield for just Rs.300. What a genuine deal that was! SOme other vendor stubbornly keeping the price at original levels of 900-1k wudnt have made a single penny. But this outlet was smart enuf to recover 300 back on it!

problem of piracy is not a huge one in india. hardly 1% of the indian population has access to internet connectivity. the number is of course growing... and hence you are starting to see steps being taken to curb the piracy. do not worry, we would soon have our own version of the great indian firewall that would ensure that anything we do online would be monitored by the government. enjoy while you can.

@ Sushubh...I do agree with other points, that its just a matter of time before all our freedom on internet will be lost. But how is it that the problem of piracy is very small in terms of % in India? Ok agreed that not everyone has access to high speed internet. But then u have pirates having their "shops" at every nook and corner of the nation - be it a metro, be it a semi-metro, of be it a semi-rural area. I still cant say about rural areas, as i havent visited.

The 30 rupee disc you get from roadside shops of the latest songs & movies, all is the result of piracy. One Internet connection, just one connection is enough. You don't need to have connection in each house.

Thats what i m exactly pointing out! 1 connection and its enough to result in original stuff lying on the shelf. And we have numerous such joints everywhere. When i go to my native place which is a semi rural area, even there i find such joints at reasonable distances. About 90% of people there are living on 2G data cards, with 1 or 2 GB limits on them. But the other 10% is giving them all the pirated stuff.
