Selling the STB division is still understandable, that may be they dont want to go deeper into that segment. But not using Motorola to their advantage is stupidity! They have acquired a business & they have its infrastructure ready. Instead of Samsung messing up with their Nexus brand of phones, they can very well use Motorola to their advantage.

nope. set top box is a very important division for google to focus on. android is doing well in the smartphone market. they have no need to tinker with it and make their other partners comfortable. google could have used motorola to showcase what android is capable of in terms of non smartphones. and if they sell it, they are missing out on an important market. Apple has started taking this market seriously with their apple tv. a 99 dollar box running ios. google tv does not have anything in comparison right now. make cheap set top boxes running android and you have cheap computer alternatives running google android.

Yeah right. They already have planned Android@Home for future. May be an Android phone/Tab could communicate with the STB running Android to set certain recording/reminders......
