Hey guys, I’ve been dealing with some really annoying speed issues lately—fluctuations and drops while watching videos on any site and even when uploading files to Google Drive or JioCloud.

1. Speed Fluctuation & Drops While Watching Videos

  • While watching videos on any site (YouTube, Facebook, live matches, etc.), the speed randomly drops, causing buffering.
  • This issue happens on both wired and wireless connections, but it's much worse on Wi-Fi.
  • On a wired connection, the speed drops occasionally, but it's not as bad as on Wi-Fi.
  • On Wi-Fi, 2K videos struggle the most because the speed keeps fluctuating.
  • The weird part is that when I run speed tests continuously (Ookla, Fast.com, Cloudflare Speed Test) about 20 times in a row, I don’t see any speed drops or fluctuations, and the latency stays around 4ms on Wi-Fi.

2. Major Upload Speed Issues (Especially on Google Drive)

  • Uploading files to Google Drive, Jio Cloud, or other cloud services is a nightmare.
  • On Wi-Fi, the upload speed drops to half, and the fluctuations are extreme.
  • On a wired connection, it uses full speed, but the speed still jumps up and down.
  • For example, if an upload is supposed to finish in 10 minutes, it takes 15 minutes because of random speed dips.

3. Telegram Group Loading Problem

  • When I open a group on Telegram, where people send photos/videos, it takes nearly 1 minute to load everything.
  • After using Telegram for 10 minutes continuously, the issue disappears.
  • However, if I clear Telegram from RAM and reopen it, the problem comes back.

4. Tried Different DNS Servers, But No Improvement

  • I have tested Cloudflare DNS, Google DNS, and Quad9 DNS, but nothing changed.
  • The issue is still the same across all of them.

Need a Fix! If anyone has a solution, please let me know. This is super frustrating and really messing up my workflow! 😤

I have used Jio fiber from May 2023-July 2023 and yes only 3 months because of the same problem you are facing (partly because I shifted my flat to a place which only has LCO "DADAGIRI" hence only 3 months of Jio fiber exp)

So I realized this issue within the first 4 days of getting the connection as even Instagram or YouTube wouldn't load things as quickly as it would with my prev hathway broadband

and mind you this isn't a speed issue it's just their damn DPI which slows everything down

after that I tagged Jio fiber customer care on Twitter, and then they sent a technician, who called the backend team and performed an update on the router

The issue was still there but just a tad bit better

and that's the only fix I could find, as this would even slow down load times with a VPN too (I used Mullvad Singapore serves as that was the closest to India)

oh and try to restart your router every morning ,it might help

@Kyle Crane
The "backend team"—I remember one incident. I had a problem with high ping during meetings, so a Jio Care engineer visited my house. He checked everything and said everything was okay, but I practically showed him the issue.

So, he called the backend team, and they discussed it. The final conclusion I got was: "Your connection is fine, but the app you're using—Zoom—is at fault."

Till now, the problem has not been fixed, so indirectly, it means that those who use Zoom on Jio Fiber get a bad connection, I guess.

its there DPI they just dont want to admit problems

hey maybe give Goodbye DPI a try

@raj17 Try disabling IPv6 and see if that helps. Sometimes their IPv6 works horribly.

And I was having similar streaming issues, but it was fixed automatically after a few days.
