Torrenting depends upon the number of seeds/peers present. So it may keep on varying. Try private trackers for higher speeds. Ok, some of the newer users are getting more than what they had bargained for, but BSNL is slowly stabilizing the speeds of these guys too. So if your friend happen to be one among those, his speeds will be capped at 256 kBps too..

1. Check your bandwidth from bsnl speed test2.if it is over 1mbps then you can increase your speed (only downloading)3.Click Start. 4.Click Run.5.Type gpedit.msc Enter6.Goto Administrative Templates7.Goto Network8.Goto Qos packet scheduler9.double click limit reservable bandwidth10.Enable it and set it to 0%. Click OK TRY it......it should boost ur speed .....:)

400 kbps or kBps ? ... 400 kBps is not possible on a 2 Mbps line .. unless your friend is synced higher than 2 Mbps

THanx for ur help guys. Aparrrently bsnl promises speeds from 256kbps-2mbps. Am getting around 1.5 mbps so cant blame them. my friends are connected to NIB II. Maybe that can explain the high speeds.@surfer my friend gets aproxx 3mbps on speed test so i guess he is synced at high speeds.

@members/ace7007/1.Did yu try GDMT ( post No 3 )2. Did you try opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222 ?3. Check advice at speedguide.net and download TCP/IP optimiser program. 4. Presume 3 Mbps speed was tested at same speedtest.net , and not in BSNL speedtest site.

even those who are synced at higher speeds won't get more than 2mbps(256KBps) avg speeds.i have never seen anybody till now who can prove his 3mbps speeds by showing his BSNL portal entries.best i have seen is around 2mbps for users synced at 4-8mbps.i am synced at exactly 2mbps & get 1.8mbps on an avg though my speed jumps to 300KBps for a second or 2.
