I opened new hdfc preferred account 2 weeks ago they processed my cheque for initial funding last friday and next day i got a welcome message from hdfc that i opened gold speciale account instead of peferred a/c. I still havn't received my welcome kit I will give them a month to rectify the error and put me into preferred group otherwise I will close this account

Preferred is banking variant and Gold speciale is a savings account variant.
I am sure, they have put you in the right segment.

What's the monthly average balance required for preferred account. Is it 2 lakhs.

HDFC needs seven days to unsubsribe me from the promotional emails

How do you even request that? I seriously need to raise a request for stopping those emails and calls. I get called atleast 5 times daily to take a Personal loan

You can blame government for this. They have sold your Pan data and your vehicular data to private entities. They Call you on behalf of banks but are no where related to it. I myself receive such calls. But the option of reporting is not there because of shit app of TRAI.

raise a request for stopping those emails

All the promotional mails at the bottom will have unsubsribe link in small letters. For the last one week I've been doing it, but still i continue to get it . Then yesterday when I read carefully in the unsubsribe page, they have mentioned that it will take seven days to get processed.

Ideally isn't it should be instant process? This is the first time I see someone needing a week to remove email address from their mass junk mail process.

In my case, I think HDFC itself is responsible as each of the caller specifically states that they are calling from HDFC Bank and also refer to a loan account that I have with them.
