Suggest a good OpenWrt supported router

Hi I’m looking for a router which supports openwrt (oem update) . Under 5-6k.

I’m mean you can install the openwrt from the router update option (the old version of archer c6 ac1200 ) can able to do it but it is unavailable

The TP-Link Archer AX23 v1 is indeed a great choice.
I would recommend Netgear R6850. This one has a USB port which the TP-Link router lacks.
Additionally, both have the same MT7621 800mhz dual-core CPU with 128MB RAM.
The Netgear router races ahead with 128MB Flash storage.
Both support the OpenWrt 23.05 release.

Before buying the R6850, keep in mind that Openwrt firmware is not stable on it. There are many issues with WiFi 5 GHz

Has there been ANY reliable development about the OpenWRT OS for Netgear R6850? Acquired the Router with the primary intention of installing OpenWRT.

What exactly is openwrt and what are its benfits?
Asking because i have heard a lot about it but wasnt able to find anything concrete .
I am not much knowledgeable when it comes to networking devices.

Open WRT extends and add more functionality to your router, keeps it secure and gives you more control over your router.

It's a bit like flashing a custom ROM on your phone.
