Google is unlikely to support bb10 platform as well. People would have to choose what is more important... Ecosystem or platform.

Hmm.. Meaning? BB10 is/will be having an Android Apps & most if not all Android Apps that run Playbook & maybe more would work on BB10

I guess iOS is the only other platform that they even seem remotely interested in supporting?

Right. Google is going very offensive on iOS. They have launched apps in the recent months which practically replace Apple’s own apps. So, people are now using Chrome instead of Safari. Google Maps instead of Apple Maps. Gmail instead of Apple’s Email Client. And so on. Reports claim that Apple is not very happy with this and might implement more restrictions in the future. I wonder what they can do considering they already do not allow users to replace the default apps on their devices. Google also recently announced that they are killing their ActiveSync support for free users. This was used by folks on Windows Phone and other compatible platforms to properly sync data from regular Google accounts (calendar, contacts). So, these users are now going to get a rather crude user experience. No push mail for example. In the end, Google is only focusing on Android and iOS. They need iOS because it is the second most popular smartphone platform in the market. They can simply ignore all other platforms for the nearby future.

One can't predict the future of a mobile OS. Either it be andriod, ios, windows etc. But it partly depends on mkt's front runner's support. Ex :- Samsung is a key player for andriod. Samsung has the highest % of andriod phone mkt share. If the Samsung change the focus to tizen which they are developing by joining hands with Intel Corporation (another big mkt giant). It would definitely shake the the search giant's andriod domination and another interesting news is tizen is based on Nokia's abandoned MeeGo. Next sailfish, which is actually developed by Nokia's former engineers. So it would get attention from geeks atleast, if not from the normal user. Ofcourse Jolla\sailfish does not have the same level as Samsung's Tizen. But If Nokia support it by any chance. Then it would be again Samsung vs Nokia (Tizen vs Sailfish). Andriod would be pushed to 3rd place. The competition is between open source Operating systems. Being a closed source Operating systems. RIM wouldn't survive, win & IOS will always have a minimum mkt share outside U.S & Europe with loyal buyers. But won't get to the masses ... Btw, nokia's is more focussed to windows because they don't want the andriod on their phones. So they probably support sailfish. And 95% of the smart phone users are normal users and their choices are influenced by the tech tycoons. Hope you aware that there are lot of linux based phones already available in the mkt. Because the andriod is google's it got the attention.

samsung has played a big role in the success of android. but the fact remains, if samsung had not capitalized on this fantastic opportunity, someone else would have. htc? even motorola!android is also successful because of the massive ecosystem google offers on the desktop and the mobile front. Apple saw with the maps debacle that unless you can provide an alternative to something, it is stupid to kill an app/service that is supported by a competitor. how do you think these newer players would offer mapping and navigation support? what about native apps for services like youtube or gmail? third party services would support a few of these new platforms. but the core services? you are going to be stuck with web based services with very limited capability or third party apps with uncertain future.

Blah Blah Blah andriod have an edge. Ofcourse no one here deny the fact that the google services\dependency can't be avoided atleast until alternatives are available. But that doesn't mean andriod is better ..

Your replies indirectly mean that andriod can't be avoided. But i don't think so. Yes, Ofcourse android has certainly rocked the mobile industry over the last 3+ years. But you must be aware that all of its major manufacturing partners already involved in litigation. And android’s biggest threat to its existence isn’t even a competitor, it’s Oracle. The company owns thousands of Java-related patents, and is taking Google and its mobile OS to court over several of them. To me, it looks like the company cut a lot of corners in a rush to get its mobile OS to market, and now it’s paying for it. Critics predicts that the andriod would be history by 2016 ...
