Tata Sky Plus has improved their site further. They have added a new an interactive demo. It is much better than the previous demo.

DTH ? Tata Sky DTH in India, Leading Satellite Television Provider in India, DTH services by Tata Sky, Direct-to-home, India

Instead of the Demo, if they concentrate on putting the EPG online and make it their mission to enable the TS+ STB for remote recording (that is stting the recording from the net or mobile) it would have been much better...till then there is no fun in having a TS+ and limited to watch some 20 odd watchable channels and having just repeats of shows on them...TS is in a sad state of Status quo ...it launched the TS + box last year but hardly did anything to introduce new things in the last year. I took a demo of Airtel IPTV and though the controls are sluggish the pic quality is good enough...and if they start the NGC HD on it and rest of the fox channels on IPTV then I am definitely shifting my allegiance their :)

Good suggestion, but I doubt that they would do it.
For remote recording set up, it needs lots of new infrastructure/headend/server, and to invest on it, TATASKY also need strong subscriber base. But it seems subscriber number is also low and not growing at rate expected by them, so they are in 'status quo'.
BTW I believe until they provide such remote recording service, they should stop charging Rs 50 for PVR service, because current PVR is just a simple PVR, and any FTA PVR can do the recording (if proper EPG available) which is done by TATASKY+ PVR.

I am not sure I agree on this. The case I can think of is a simple web based application accessible from the browser [computer or mobile] where a user can set his preferences. This in turn communicates to the STB the time it needs to start recording. OK so its not as simple as that, but doesn't require earth shattering infrastructure either.

I think the site has good features as Gul introduces her animated family and shares her experience. It also has a good walk through of situations with which PVR supplements decision-making. This also gives a pre-user experience of PVR.

The highlighted part requires all the big setup like servers to store database of all subscribers, data management, communication with correct STB. Hence need for more infrastructure (and more investment)

ofcourse not earth shattering, but definately complicated & costly :)

Remote recording should be a great option but it is uncertain whether such a step will increase its demand:huh: as problems regarding remote recording too may cause inconvenience to customers.

Already those records are in TS database and they use it to activate and deactivate stbs etc.,. all the time! So this is not that big but as they are stingy they haven't implemeneted it. Moreover not many going to use it anyway.

That speculation needs to be determined, if there will not be many users it will not be of prime importance until demand for such an application arise.
