Which is a better technology for the television set? LCDLEDPlasmaFrom my experiences going to a home studio store yesterday, Plasma sounds like the better one. What do you say? I plan to buy a 40inch plus television set in the coming weeks/months. Checking my options. Also. have no idea whether airtel iptv would work well on it. i am expecting HD quality from airtel but decent picture quality would be fine.

ok this is hearsay. the dude at the shop i went to said that both LCD and LED have brighter pictures which are not very nice to watch for longer duration of time. plasma on the other hand has a softer picture. i am not sure about the technicalities. he had a huge sized plasma display in the demo room (filled with home theaters :D ) and well it looked nice. viewing angle was pretty wide. i am not sure if LCD and LED have a wide viewing angle... the LED display on my Wife's macbook does not have it. my LCD on my system has a similar problem. watching the image from an angle does not work out nicely.

LED TV's are the future of TV. they are super thin , 3D and expensive. But at this time one should go for LCD or plasma because LED's have just entered the market, also the technology needs to be matured.viewing angle is no problem with any modern lcd/led/plasmai guess if tv is big (42 inch or more) then plasma is better optiona 32 inch lcd is sleek and good depends on what one needs

the guy i was dealing with said that plasmas do not come for sizes below 40 inches. the smallest he said was 42 inchs. :D a lot of research needs to be done i guess. :(

But lcd nd led tvs have very wide viewing angles u check out urself 178 degrees is all led nd lcd have these days also there is no need of wide viewing angles in laptops and small screens these are meant for straight view only ..... Power consumption wise led nd lcd are very good(less) , brightness for me more the better (we can always adjust )only one thing i would say that go for 100 or 200 hertz motion picture technology it would be good to view fast action scenes and sports, also about brighteness thingy ,that guy probably wont ever buy a 40 inch tv and hardly will have a clue on what he is saying, i heard that for a good high definition picture quality a tv should be able to brighten as good as a daylight or something like that, plasmas had burn in issues a couples of years back donno about that now might be gone, plasmas have very deep black levels but now even lcd are having upto 20 lac :1 dynamic contrast ratios which was merely 5000 to 15000 a couple of years back so i dont think should be any issue, choice is urs though , i would go for samsung and probably not Sony cos samsung supplies lcd screens to sony and samsung is world leader in big tvs........

i have asked him to get me brochures of the options i have. he recommended Panasonic. i would see the product details and the prices before i decide. :) the dude is a friend so i would get a pretty decent discount. he said that the 42 inch plasma panasonic might cost me around Rs. 35K (HD ready not full HD). full hd is likely to be slightly more expensive.

well for lcd,led and plasma viewing angle is 178 degree. i am also considering buying lcd tv. i visited so many sites, and read the reviews. but still didnt decided. but if you want to go for plasma, Panasonic is best. i am waiting if HD channels will air with number of players i will wait ,because i assuming prices of full hd tv will drop.

ah well television programming is a piece of shit. there is little on television that is worth watching. HD? i had rather do it in stages. get the HD TV first. then go for Xbox 360 with Project Natal later this year. and then spend on a home theater system slowly. :D in a couple of years i would have a pretty decent configuration that would be very much out of date. :D
