Hello,
I have an unlimited 512kbps MTNL ADSL connection in New Delhi. Ever since I upgraded from 256 kbps to 512 my internet connection keeps dropping very frequently, many times when it is in the middle of loading a page, it'll just hang, then i'll reload the page and itll come up at regular speed. The thing is that this will happen every 20-30 seconds!
Basically this is the diagnostic test report:
>> Testing Ethernet LAN connection ... PASS
>> Testing ADSL Synchronization . PASS
>> Testing ATM OAM segment ping ... FAIL
>> Testing ATM OAM end to end ping ... FAIL
>> Ping Primary Domain Name Server . PASS
>> Ping Yahoo! ... PASS
So basically this is an ATM OAM issue. I have been hounding MTNL for 3 weeks and they are absolutely clueless, its quite comical seeing the lineman try to figure it out!
Oh, and after looking around for a solution I found one where someone advised changing the TCP MSS to 1360 bytes (from 0), so I did that and the issue did improve a bit, however the above diagnostic still keeps happening with both the ATM OAMs still failing and the connection still going idle, though a little less often.
Anyway, this issue is killing my productivity, someone please help!
Cheers,
Kabir
