I am a Airtel Postpaid Mobile user since a very long time now. and one day I was told through there Thanks app that There Fiber Broadband comes with an Landline Service in my area.
This has Impressed me, and I have booked a new Airtel Fiber Connection and it got Installed the very same day.
I Received my Airtel Landline number through an Email from Airtel and the email says I got Free unlimited calling all over the country.
I was so Excited about this, and I bought a new Telephone set to connect to the landline Service which I will be getting from Airtel.
I connected the phone, and there is no dial tone. I am unable to make calls, and no incoming as well.
I tried Calling My Landline Number provided by airtel from my Mobile, and to my shock it says the Number is not valid.
I have Immediately Called the guy who Installed the connection and told him about this, and to my shock this guy says, Airtel wont provide any landline service. its only Internet what they provide.
I shone him my plan details on there airtel thanks app, and on there website airtel.in and also in the Email I received from airtel.
but this guy still says that its only Internet what they provide and there is nothing like landline from airtel.
Then I called airtel customer care and booked a complaint regarding my fake landline number provided by the airtel. this time the customer care guys said, the landline number i got from airtel is valid and they are going to send there technician to fix the problem with in 24 hours.
the very next day I got a call from the same guy who installed the connection and he still says the same. this time with a rood voice. he sir I already told you that you will only get Internet and nothing else. no landline nothing and the have cut the call on my face.
as soon as he cuts the call, I got an SMS from airtel saying that my complained is closed.
I dint give up. I have booked a complaint again with airtel, and this time, they have closed my complaint without even calling me.
I still dint give up. I kept on booking complaints Repeatedly and they use to close my complaints Repeatedly without solving my landline problem.
I got tired of it, and posted all this things on there facebook and twitter pages.
now, again airtel guys booked multiple ticket's on my landline number and promised me that my problem will be solved with in 24 hours.
but no, it dint. again all those complaints got closed without any fix. they din't even contacted me while they are closing my tickets.
but still I dint give up, I kept on posting on there facebook and twitter pages about my landline thing, and you know what? this time airtel Surprises me saying that they only provide landline service in few locations and they do not provide any landline service at my location.
I asked them if it is the case, then y I was told that I will be getting a landline service along with my Broadband plan? Y I was told that there is an unlimited calling with my plan?
Then y I was given a landline number?
and trust me, they have no answer to any of my questions. and since then airtel has stopped responding to my posts on facebook and twitter.
later, I got to know that I am not alone who got cheated in the name of landline by airtel. there are many customers all over the country.
This is a open Scam by airtel.
People, stay away from this cheater company.
Dear Airtel, Stop Playing with Peoples Trust.
This shows What Kind of Management Airtel has.
The Fake Landline Number Provided to me by Airtel is: 08689468736.

Where are you from @sbhokray, your profile says you from Miryalaguda and the landline number what you received is as per your STD code. So far so good, but looks like in your city Airtel Broadband is just launched and still not many users have taken Airtel.

Landline services has to be activated from BSNL for Airtel once minimum required connections become active on Airtel.

For me it got activated after 2 months and when enquired with installation team during installation they told once 500 active users are on landline services will be activated.

Airtel is bound by DOT so you may not get any help, just wait till the required active connections criteria is met.

In that case on the webpage or in the application form there should be a *Terms and Conditions and this point must be mentioned there upfront that Landline service is conditional based on availability of users. I don't know if it's there or not right now.

Hi @Armaan Airtel is not new for my City. its 2 years old now, and got over 2000 to 3000 connections.
and I am sure that there is nothing like minimum number of connections requirements from DOT. cause here Jio has got only 300 connections. and the landline services are active from the day one to all there customers.
and as I mentioned in my post, its not me alone, airtel is doing this in many places all over the country. I have seen lot of places where there are over 1000 customers, and no landline services from airtel.
the point is, airtel should make this point very clear to people, that they will only provide Internet. they should not bluff people like this.

@rohitks yes you are right, they have to mention it clearly. and till today they have not mentioned it. my plan still says I have free unlimited calling and a landline service.
this is a cheap busienss trick from airtel. they just want to takeaway BSNL and JIO business in the name of landline.

Write a mail to gopal dot vittal at airtel dot com CEO of Airtel and also mark it to net at airtel dot com, stating your concern.
It may also be that the router is missing voip details or has not been correctly configured. Many ISP's technicians (?) are incompetent basically. Probe more whatever you can.

@Lolita_Magnum Never mind, I need a Landline Because I got a Big House, and We are a Joint family and We Wanted a Family Phone.
We got a PBX Installed at Home. and Having a Landline Phone is part of our life.
What disturbs me more is, I have diched my BSNL phone which I was using for over 52 years Because of this airtel.
Remember, lengthy calls are always healthy on a Landline Phone.

@rohitks Thank you, will try emailing them.
Yes, I Have checked my router VOIP settings, and its all good.
am 100% sure that its not a Router settings. the Problem is, the landline services are not provisioned. I get check the number you have dial messages when I dial this number from other phones.
and, This is not just for me. its for thousands of customers across the country.

@sbhokray this is totally unacceptable. Raise complaint on consumer forum along with sending mail to Vittal & do everything you can. Because these bastards charge so much and if they fail to deliver their promises they should be kicked really hard.
