I am a Airtel Postpaid Mobile user since a very long time now. and one day I was told through there Thanks app that There Fiber Broadband comes with an Landline Service in my area.
This has Impressed me, and I have booked a new Airtel Fiber Connection and it got Installed the very same day.
I Received my Airtel Landline number through an Email from Airtel and the email says I got Free unlimited calling all over the country.
I was so Excited about this, and I bought a new Telephone set to connect to the landline Service which I will be getting from Airtel.
I connected the phone, and there is no dial tone. I am unable to make calls, and no incoming as well.
I tried Calling My Landline Number provided by airtel from my Mobile, and to my shock it says the Number is not valid.
I have Immediately Called the guy who Installed the connection and told him about this, and to my shock this guy says, Airtel wont provide any landline service. its only Internet what they provide.
I shone him my plan details on there airtel thanks app, and on there website airtel.in and also in the Email I received from airtel.
but this guy still says that its only Internet what they provide and there is nothing like landline from airtel.
Then I called airtel customer care and booked a complaint regarding my fake landline number provided by the airtel. this time the customer care guys said, the landline number i got from airtel is valid and they are going to send there technician to fix the problem with in 24 hours.
the very next day I got a call from the same guy who installed the connection and he still says the same. this time with a rood voice. he sir I already told you that you will only get Internet and nothing else. no landline nothing and the have cut the call on my face.
as soon as he cuts the call, I got an SMS from airtel saying that my complained is closed.
I dint give up. I have booked a complaint again with airtel, and this time, they have closed my complaint without even calling me.
I still dint give up. I kept on booking complaints Repeatedly and they use to close my complaints Repeatedly without solving my landline problem.
I got tired of it, and posted all this things on there facebook and twitter pages.
now, again airtel guys booked multiple ticket's on my landline number and promised me that my problem will be solved with in 24 hours.
but no, it dint. again all those complaints got closed without any fix. they din't even contacted me while they are closing my tickets.
but still I dint give up, I kept on posting on there facebook and twitter pages about my landline thing, and you know what? this time airtel Surprises me saying that they only provide landline service in few locations and they do not provide any landline service at my location.
I asked them if it is the case, then y I was told that I will be getting a landline service along with my Broadband plan? Y I was told that there is an unlimited calling with my plan?
Then y I was given a landline number?
and trust me, they have no answer to any of my questions. and since then airtel has stopped responding to my posts on facebook and twitter.
later, I got to know that I am not alone who got cheated in the name of landline by airtel. there are many customers all over the country.
This is a open Scam by airtel.
People, stay away from this cheater company.
Dear Airtel, Stop Playing with Peoples Trust.
This shows What Kind of Management Airtel has.
The Fake Landline Number Provided to me by Airtel is: 08689468736.

@Chip I understand all your points. but its not like you are not entitled to ask or question when something comes complimentary along with the product you are paying for.
Imagine you have taken 1499 plan assuming you will be given free OTT subscriptions as per the company website, app and emails and once the payment is done and the connection gets installed if you are told that its not for your area or city will it be alright?
one just can't keep calm considering the OTT as an complimentary service correct?

My two cents on this is that when it comes to broadband service, Airtel is the best we have at the moment. For technical minded people most other providers have either crippled/closed hardware or their network is intentionally crippled.
Now, if you dont care or understand why Airtel broadband is better than others then carry on.

My usecase is perhaps different to yours. I use Airtel primarily for their broadband service. Only positive thing about their landline is that it is sip based so it can be setup to terminate at a softpbx which is great. Having said that it seems other ISPs (BSNL?) are doing it the same way, so no extra brownie points to Airtel.

@sbhokray absolutely..tomm if they stop offering OTT and some other freebies heck even my landline I am perfectly fine. I do not buy a broadband connection for these things but internet access. :D Tata Play doesn't offer me anything except a landline and I am perfectly fine.

So, I am not sure why you are so worked up over what is a clearly a freebie by Airtel. If it's not feasible in your case they won't provision it! Simple! Bro!! Why don't you just give up the connection?! Going legal isn't going to help get a landline # if its technically not feasible.

I would suggest you read the Airtel Fibre Terms and Conditions of the broadband service very carefully. This PDF doc is not something we customers ever read with any interest but the minute we sign on the CAF form and the service is provisioned, everything in the T&C is applicable to us. Check Section 4.2 and read it, let me quote from the doc:

Airtel shall allocate a telephone number and/or broadband ID/Account ID at its sole and absolute discretion and connect Customer Equipment or CPE, as the case may be, to the network and will use all reasonable endeavors to maintain connection and provide Service/s throughout the Enrollment Period. The said number/ID shall remain in the exclusive domain of Airtel and the Customer is entitled to use the same only during the Enrollment Period. Upon termination of the Enrollment Period, Airtel shall have the right to allocate the said number/ID to any other Customer in its sole discretion and can also alter/change the same for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to any directive of government/quasi government authority, DoT, MIB, TRAI, technical reason etc.

Now, if you still want to try your luck through the legal route sure go ahead it's your right...but let me tell you'd be wasting your time.

PS - I won't say anything more on this thread bro..good luck to you in your efforts to get a number from Airtel. (y)

@Chip bro, the only reason y am behind this cheaters is, they have fooled me officially. and I don't Want them to Repeat this with anyone ever after.
if it can't be given, then they would have just kept quite. but here they have sent me a email that things are ready to use.
and yes, the T&C says it, and as they said they have sent me an email and also showing me in my plan that the landline is active. so I should have it.
and thanks bro for your inputs.
I will keep updating this thread. you can have a look if you are Interested. good luck bro.

You are just running around in circles man!
The Terms and Conditions document takes highest precedence, and that is the only legally binding document. No matter how much you try, I am not sure how much success you can get.
Everyone here is aware of the tactics employed by all the ISP's. So the best thing to do would be discontinue Airtel and go for a different ISP.
And as Chip and Mikrotik said, it's best to accept it and move on. Rest is for you to decide

Airtel is run by clown's.
There's no landline with my Airtel fiber connection but they assign a phone number with the connection anyway. And when I call their customer care the first thing the rep asks is sir what is your phone number 🤡 . How are we supposed to remember some rando phone number that you gave when it does not even exist? Besides, their app and website is shit. For LCO connections, the only way to recharge your broadband account was their app before they introduced the new website UI.

The only reason to stick with airtel is their actual internet works good for the most part and does not have major issues like packet loss, etc but if you do end up facing issues then pray that the local guy is in the mood for doing his job because it is basically impossible to escalate any complaint.
