it's probably more because lalit modi has a lot of insider info about the political bosses of our country. the kind of benefits they availed during ipl matches and otherwise.
So Mallya does not have insider info? He probably does. Because he is RS member too. And being RS member he probably has direct access to certain things which Lalit Modi didnt have.
Also he left just a day before banks initiated actions which means someone tipped him!
Lalit Modi actually claimed to have tons of documents illustrating the corruption of the top politicians. He shared some of the shit on Twitter though I guess nothing substantial was posted. Mallya might have also entertained politicians as the owner of a liquor company and then as owners of a Formula-1 team and IPL team... But I guess he doesn't have much in his hands. Plus he defrauded banks. I am not even sure what Lalit Modi did. He made IPL IPL. One of the biggest brands in the Indian market. He is already an established businessman so it's not like he needed to do it to make money. His business has not gone into bankruptcy. He seems to be doing fairly well financially.
Lalit Modi is essentially like Narendra Modi. He has no need for money. He just wanted power. And people in actual power were not happy with his rise at BCCI so they got him kicked out and in the process ruined IPL. Mallya on the other hand... Stretched a bit too much with his finances in order to live a Lifestyle he wanted to live. Wasted a lot of money in unprofitable ventures like Formula-1. And in the end ended up defaulting on bank loans.
What exactly is his downfall? He's in UK, with his name in UK electoral rolls. He still has shit load of money and his sons and daughters too have a lavish Lifestyle.
he no longer runs a liquor business.
he no longer runs a formula-1 team.
he no longer runs an IPL team.
he no longer runs an airline company.
the man never had money problems. he likes to stay in limelight. the king of good times. it was always about being the indian version of sir richard branson.
