Small update: My society is now connected. They will start providing connections to individual homes from tomorrow. They offered good discounts since almost entire society is getting their connection (like 70% of appartments).
May be in a couple of days they should wire up my house as well.
MTNL FTTH was installed recently at my place. The installation etc is taken care by their revenue share partner.
I had a existing landline and ADSL, so for migration they are not charging any fees.
But you have to buy FTTH ONT ( either from partner or from open market). The local partner charged me Rs.2500 plus GST as upfront charges, no monthly rental for ONT.
Speeds are as per opted plan.
@bigbyte.me which area?
Still a bit surprised that MTNL is still giving fiber to its subscribers. In my area, the CSC was almost deserted since most took VRs, those available are on contract so they have no incentive to work hard. They come and go as they please... Frankly it has become worst than what it was previously..
I would have opted for MTNL FTTH since it is completely underground and I have good experience with their ADSL service since 2005. Too bad they didn't respond to my requests to get it installed. They have a fiber box in my building which I became aware of couple of days ago while tata guys were putting theirs in place.
Still going to keep ADSL for a while.
