Well Origins:Magneto was supposed to be a younger Magneto version. First Class has him becoming Magneto. I suspect they just dropped Origins:Magneto in favour of the First Class & its sequels.

from the quote i posted, it appears they were going to cast the older magneto in the origins movie? maybe at the end? god knows. i have no idea what i am talking about so i would shut up now!

Yes, they were planning to cast him (using similar tech that was used in the part 3 of the original trilogy) to show him as a younger self.. If you have seen the movie , its the scene where they (Magneto & Professor) went to the house of Jean Grey, who is a young kid (not sure of name) to induct her into their "school" of special powers

This is the slightly younger self & they were planning to make him even more younger

James Mangold Talks The Wolverine : It's not a prequel...

But, according to Mangold, the bulk of the action - which takes Logan to Tokyo, where he falls for Tao Okamoto's mysterious Mariko and becomes entangled in a brutal gang war - will take place outside of all previous X-film continuity.

"That’s something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline," says Mangold. "I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie."
